ISDN2

A single, high-quality, ISDN2e line has two 64k channels. In normal operation you use these separately, so you can make two calls at once. You can add further ISDN2e circuits to your installation, increasing the number of simultaneous connections and/or available data bandwidth.

Phone numbers

If required, you can have separate phone numbers for telephones or other devices connected to your circuit. How you do this depends on your line configuration:

  • If you connect devices directly to the circuit, you can have up to 9 additional MSN phone numbers which you allocate to your equipment.
  • If you use a switch/PBX, you can have an unlimited quantity of DDI numbers.
  • ISDN 2 IS Mainly used for Business that need up to 8 phone lines.  The lines are integrated in multiples of 2’s (2,4,6 or 8 phone lines or channels).  With ISDN 2 You also have the option of Direct In Dial (DID) Number Range.

The ISDN2 service allows different information such as telephone calls, Internet access, video conferencing and faxes to be transmitted with digital technology that is more advanced than traditional analogue lines.

A network terminator (NT) unit will be installed at your premises that will allow digital equipment to function.  Multiple equipment may be connected to the NT for example telephones, computers , Video conference facilities or fax machines.  Analogue equipment can only function on an ISDN2 service with a Terminal Adaptor.  We recommend the ISDN2a service, should you require analogue equipment to function with your ISDN.

Supplementary services provide additional functions to your existing ISDN2 service.  One such service is Multiple Subscriber Numbers (MSN) and allows up to 4 additional telephone numbers.
